Chengdu Impression
Have you ever been to Chengdu?
What are the first words popping out of your mind upon hearing the name of “Chengdu”?
My answer will be
- Three Kingdoms
- Jinli
- Panda
- Girls
- Hopot
- Face changing opera
Three Kindoms
the hotel I am living in these days in Chengdu is Jingchuan hotel, which is a Three kindom theme hotel. there are pictures or Chinese calligraphy about Three kindoms in every hotel room and even in every possible places in the hotel, on the wall, in the restaurant menu, the bellboy at the door wearing armors of Three Kindoms… actually you can see these tracks in every corner of Chengdu.
You can easily bought the famous feather fan here in Chengdu, cause Zhu-ge liang’s always with that in his hand in people’s impression.
Jinli
a wierd name when I heard it for the first time, however it’s worth going anyway.
Jinli Ancient Street (锦里古街). This neighborhood is part of the old city of Chengdu; it features hotels and small stores in old-fashioned style. Antiques are sold in a variety of different stores. It is very popular among both tourists and locals, especially at night, with many bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. You will find a lot of famous local snack food over there, prices ¥1-10. Restaurants and bars in Jin Li are more expensive than outside. There are also antique hotels in there. Some consider Jin Li is to be tourist trap, which is partly true. However, this ‘new old street’ offers regional and fairly affordable street food specialties as well and can be combined with a visit to the Wuhouci Temple (entry fee 60 yuan, unless you are the holder of a Panda Card). Don’t forget to take your camera.
Again! Remember Don’t buy too much things there, it’s expensive! but i like the place!
Panda
Sichuan is the hometown of panda, so we can feel the existing of panda by the panda related products sold here.
Girls
Everybody says the climate here in Chengdu is very suitable for people to live. and girls are more beautiful with their good skins.
Hopot
Everyone in China know hotpot is one key element in Chengdu’s daily life. I felt it’s cheap enough for people to sit around the table and spend a long night eating…, of course it’s in a small restaurant, for sure there are many small restaurants in Chengdu.
for example, ¥14 per person for fish I, ¥22 per person for chicken, ¥23 per person for Fish II (with less fishbones)
Face changing opera
You won’t forget the experience to see the live show of face changing opera in Chengdu.
I’d seen one show of it in the restaurant of “Ba Guo Bu yi” (buyi means civilians, baguo means Chengdu and ajacent area in the ancient time), the opera is very impressive.
